Nursing Skilled Facilities Profile

Fri, 05/02/2008 - 09:50 — Iasist
This monitors aspects relating to social health care such as appropriateness, care-related action or efficiency, adjusting the complexity of the patients cared for by means of Resource Utilisation Groups (RUG-III(r)).

Find out how your social healthcare centre is working and locate areas for potential improvement. After several years of experience in evaluating health centres on an individual basis and for care financers, IASIST offers you an overall focus to assess the quality and the care in your practice.

Who is it aimed at?

The Nursing Skilled Facilities Profile targets mid and long term stay centre directors who are concerned about the compared assessment of their centre's work.

The evaluation of their results, adjusted for the mix of their patients.

It is a proven fact that healthcare results depend largely on the characteristics of the patients cared for. In order to adjust these differences between patients when evaluating care suppliers' work, a set of Patient Classification Systems have been developed which group together the different patients cared for into homogeneous categories in terms of cost and/or prognosis.

By means of the Nursing Skilled Facilities Profile, IASIST offers you a complete snapshot of your centre's work compared with the work observed in suppliers with a similar profile to yours, adjusting for their patient characteristics using the Resource Utilization Groups (RUG-III), a specific system to measure the complexity of social health environments.

A range of key dimensions

Aimed at monitoring both appropriateness and quality and care efficiency, the Nursing Skilled Facilities Profile analyses a wide range of indicators of interest for mid-stay centres:

  • Analysis of the appropriateness of admission, valuing the admission profile for each centre compared with the average profile of the standard or the readmissions in acute hospitals.
  • Analysis of the care quality, by means of analysing the different tracing indicators such as:
    • Percentage of patients surveyed when released from hospital
    • Percentage of patients with recovered pressure ulcers
    • Mortality rate, adjusted per risk
  • Efficiency analysis, valuing the average length of stay adjusted by RUG-III category

Contrasted methodologies

Each of the areas is tackled in accordance with a rigorous methodology, which includes innovation in evaluation metrics developed within Iasist.

Interpreting support

Dissemination and understanding of the results is strengthened by means of a results presentation session run by an Iasist consultant, included in the basic package.

Solid comparison patterns

Iasist databases assure a solid comparison compared against the most up to date Spanish reference patterns.
